The pyramids at Giza have been a beacon to travellers for thousands of years. Ever since they were constructed they have paved the way for people on long journeys.

When they were new, their sides were polished to a white mirror sheen. Their three huge sides would shimmer in the midday sun and glimmer in the brilliant moonlight.

Word of their splendour stretched to the four corners of the world. It wasn’t like humans stumbled across them and they were ‘discovered’. They have always been known to exist throughout antiquity.

Hundreds of thousands of people have lived and died beside the pyramids. During the ancient Egyptian epoch, it was a thriving and populated area. They served as an important waypoint during ancient times, lending their hand to lost and bewildered journeymen.

They are the beating heart of Egypt.
