This is the mummy of Ahmose Unhappy. She was a princess and later a queen of Egypt around 1550 BC. She has been extremely well preserved.

She was buried with a garland of flowers around her neck, her arms were laid out to her side and her skin was sprinkled with aromatic powdered wood.

When she was unwrapped in 1886 by Gaston Maspero, he inadvertently created a macabre masterpiece. Her hundreds of layers once sprawled out, became a dress fit for a queen.

Beautiful in life. Beautiful in death.
