CLEOPATRA’S HANDWRITING
This picture shows what is generally accepted to be the handwriting of Cleopatra. Dated around 30 BC.
It was signed at the bottom of a mandate that grants tax exemption from the sale of imported wine to the Roman Business man Publius Canidius, a friend of Mark Anthony. The text was written by a court scribe, but the last word on the very bottom was signed by Cleopatra herself.
She writes the Greek word ‘Ginesthoi’ underneath.
Which translates to - So be it/Make it so.
Cleopatra had the last word.
