INDESTRUCTIBLE

A statue of Ramesses II at Luxor. I first heard about Ramesses when I was around 8 years old. I knew of his existence before any other pharaoh.

I live thousands and thousands of miles away from Egypt. I was just a boy when I was taught about Ramesses’ enduring legacy. He has managed to stay relevant thousands of years after his death.

And rightly so.

He was a colossal giant in terms of sheer power. He made Egypt enormously rich and the country prospered during his long reign (the longest of any pharaoh). He died 3,232 years ago and yet he is still at the forefront of the world’s consciousness.

He is always there. And always will be.
