This decapitated head was found among the sunken ruins of a palace underneath the unforgiving waves. It is Caesarion - Cleopatra and Julius Caesar’s son.

It was recovered just off the coast of Alexandria in what is now thought to be the location of Cleopatra’s luxury palace.

Caesarion was never formally recognised as a Roman royal member and was possibly the only biological son of Julius Caesar. He is technically the last sovereign pharaoh of Egypt as he outlived his mother for a time before his death was ordered by Octavian.

Octavian was named sole heir in Julius Caesar’s will and testament and had a bitter war with Cleopatra’s husband and former ally, Marc Antony.

This severed head has been under the waves for over 2000 years. A true archaeological gem.
