I like to think that the person in this picture represents Khafre’s presence. The constant ever lingering spirit of a long-dead pharaoh.
The man who ordered the building of this grand structure was a pharaoh from the 4th Dynasty of ancient Egypt. He witnessed the construction of the Great Pyramid of Giza by his illustrious father, Khufu.
Khafre chose his spot - right next to his father’s wonderful pyramid. And he started to build. It was erected sometime between 2558 and 2532 BC.
People who say the Great Pyramid of Giza is an ancient wonder are guilty of one major oversight. Khafre’s Pyramid is just as supreme, just as ancient and just as wondrous.
To me, they come as a pair.
They are the two wonders of the ancient world.
