THIS CROSS-SECTION OF THE PYRAMID OF GIZA SHOWS ALL THE KNOWN TUNNELS AND CHAMBERS BUT WHAT ABOUT THE VOID?
This strange and mysterious empty space was detected quite recently. The voids’ dimensions are similar to those of the Grand Gallery, the 153-foot-long, 26-foot-tall corridor that leads to the burial chamber of Khufu.
However, it remains unclear what lies within the space, what purpose it served, or if it’s one or multiple spaces.
What could it be? As this void lies directly above the grand gallery, it could be a way to alleviate pressure - making the structure more stable. It could also be a kind of ramp that was used by the Egyptians to build the grand gallery and then was loosely backfilled as they completed construction.
No known corridors or entrances are connected to the void, so speculation about its purpose is even more interesting.
Could the void be full of treasure? Maybe this mysterious space was where Khufu buried all his riches.
Exploration of the void may never be possible as drilling into the structure may cause a catastrophic collapse.
For now, we just have to guess what it may be. Maybe in the future, technology will advance to a state where we don’t have to physically enter the void to know what’s inside,
Until then, we must wait.
