The Narmer Palette was created around the 31st century BC and is one of the first historical documents ever found. It shows Narmer (one of the earliest Pharaohs) unifying Upper and Lower Egypt.

The Hieroglyphs inscribed are some of the earliest known examples to exist. There is some debate over whether the depiction is of actual events or whether it is more of a spiritual representation of what occurred.

The Narmer Palette has managed to survive almost 5 millennia without being damaged. The condition of the piece looks as though it could have been carved yesterday. Yet, it holds an ancient mystery that scholars and historians alike have been puzzling over since its discovery in 1897.

It makes you wonder. What else is out there hidden under the sands just waiting to be found? Could there be more Palettes like this one? Time will tell.
