It is common to hear tales of haunted buildings, parks and cemetery that have long been isolated. But wait, there is a spooky metro station too!!! That too one hustling and bustling with people!!!
Where? How? And Why?
Well, in the city of Kolkata where the trams and the metros are crowded throughout the story of the haunted Rabindra Sarobar Metro Station is not uncommon. It is said to be one of the most haunted places of Kolkata.
The Station lies on the Kolkata metro line 1 and is one of the busiest metro stations of Kolkata. It is the first underground metro line in the country. It is located on Shyama Prasad Mukherjee road and gets its name from an artificial lake located in the south of Kolkata city called The Rabindra Sarobar.
The eerie vibe of the station comes from the plague that has hit metro stations these days, the ever-increasing metro suicides. The Station has witnessed several suicides on its tracks and has got the name of the Paradise of Suicides. It is appalling to know that 80% of the city’s suicides occur here. All this has associated a negative name to the station.
Haunt Of The Station
In addition to these happenings, the stories of experiencing the supernatural around here intensify the mystery behind this place.
People walking by often have felt a supernatural presence around the station. People have seen premonitions and had ghostly experiences at the station during late hours. They have been heard of witnessing shadows on the pillars or figures walking past tracks.
People travelling by the station have seen distorted shadows and figures moving aimlessly before they suddenly disappear in thin air. It is believed that these are the souls of the people who committed suicide here.
When the platform is deserted these figures are seen jumping onto the tracks. Commuters have also spoken of hearing painful cries and moaning of women and children in several instances. Passengers have also reported sighting such movements inside the train late at night.
The stories have also been supported by the metro drivers and station attendees who have not only on several instances seen the figures loathing around on the station but also several times on tracks they see footless figures moving. These unusual sightings at several instances caused train delays too.
After the last train at 10.24, no living soul dares to roam around the station from fear of these figures. The locals too avoid coming close to the station. Though there have been no instances reported of them hurting any person but they sure are scary.
